FAST FOOD WORKERS DESERVE

TO KNOW THEIR RIGHTS

26,000 fast food workers across Santa Clara County deserve to know their rights on the job. That’s why we’re calling for a county-wide Know Your Rights worker training program. This will be a critical step toward improving workplace conditions, safety and quality of life for fast food workers in the County.

The Fast Food Workers Union is asking the Santa Clara County Supervisors for:

1. ANNUAL TRAINING SESSIONS

Workers need one paid day off from regular duties each year to attend the training.

2. IN-PERSON TRAINING

Face-to-face instruction leads to more engaged, relevant and equitable learning.

3. TRUSTED TRAINERS

Training should be administered by qualified, independent, third-party organizations and held outside of work, in an environment where workers feel safe.

4. FULL-DAY TRAINING (8 HOURS)

Each training segment should highlight the rights and protections available to ALL workers, regardless of their immigration status.

5. PROTECTIONS AGAINST RETALIATION

Training segments should cover anti-retaliation protections so workers know they can exercise their legal rights on the job without punishment.

6. FEEDBACK AND IMPROVEMENT

The training program should allow for adjustments to the curriculum and structure to reflect changing laws, regulations, and improvements based on evaluation of program data.
